Amnesty International to Hold Striking Art Display for Human Rights during First Friday Artwalks

(Phoenix, AZ) – To raise awareness of the severe human rights violations and political and religious persecution in the east African country of Eritrea, local activists are taking to the streets of downtown Phoenix. However, they will not be carrying picket signs or chanting because their efforts have been channeled into an arresting interactive and information art display.

The latest progress report of the Secretary-General on the situation Ethiopia/Eritrea (S/2007/33) was issued on 22 January. The Security Council is expected to decide the future status of the Mission before the current mandate expires on 31 January.
