Swedish and international organizations for journalism and for human rights are calling for the release of an Eritrean-born Swedish journalist jailed in Eritrea over 4 years.

Marking World Press Freedom Day, demonstrators in a downtown Stockholm square stated that journalist Dawit Isaac is being detained with other journalists accused by espionage.

The 41-year old Swede is said to be in good mental health but in need of medical treatment.

Swedish foreign ministry officials have visited Eritrea but have been unable to convince the authorities to release the Swede.
