In pursuing its forced relocation policy, the government of Eritrea recently has confiscated all farmlands located between the city of Mendefera and Imni Haili, a distance that covers close to 15 Km (about 9 miles). Sources say the government has already transported its own tractors and farming equipments, and started plowing the snatched lands.

Speaking on the confiscation of private lands that are vital to their livelihood, the farmers demonstrated that the policy of the government has exposed them to a widespread of poverty, hunger, and starvation, including the devastating effect of the policy to the economy of the country.
